The

2004 B-52 Ride

The temperature was chilly, around -10 degrees give or take a few, but the turnout was terriffic. About 50 people and 40 sleds turned out for the annual B-52 Memorial Ride. The sun was shining bright against the clear blue skies for the ride out to the B-52 crash site, and the return ride back to the clubhouse, where a delicious spaghetti meal was waiting (more on that later). The trails were in good condition considering the lack of a good snowfall lately.

During the morning hours it looked quite peaceful from the outside, but on the inside everyone was busy getting ready for the ride. In the kitchen coffee was brewing, and preparations were in process for making spaghetti, lots of spaghetti and a special delicious sauce. Jim and Norma Fuller, Denise McCormick, "Jeep" and Dawn Girouard, Beth Worley and Liz Dyer handled the kitchen duties. Pricilla Worster, Pete and Cally Pratt, the organizers of the event, were getting ready for the special guests to arrive. The son and daughter of Major Robert J. Morrison (one of the crash victims) came all the way up from Florida to attend the ceremony. They have never been to the site and were anxious to see the memorial that has been set up for their father and the other Airmen that were on the plane.

The parking lot began filling up with sleds as 1:00 drew near
