PRESIDENT’S CORNER – February 2012
WE HAVE RIDEABLE SNOW!! COME ON UP AND RIDE!! Most all of the trails have been groomed at least once except for the outer trails up over Lily Bay Mountain. It is snowing today, on Feb. 1st and the weather forecast calls for cold weather to continue. We are very excited with our new grooming equipment for the club trails. We have put together a Jeep Cherokee tracked groomer and it is awesome. It will go anywhere and it pulls our 6’x10’ drag uphill while in full drag mode. We intend to groom Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays weekly. We also have purchased a new Super widetrack 800cc 4 stroke Skidoo Scandic as a sled groomer. With our steep trails on Scamming Ridge and very heavy drags, this sled will let us do a much better job at maintaining our trail system. We have two of our VK drag sleds for sale at very reasonable prices and they have a lot of life left in them. If you are interested in one of these sleds, call 695-4543.
We are opening our clubhouse for the weekends starting with the first weekend in February and with good trail conditions, for the rest of the season. Stop in and have some coffee and fast food while on the trails. We can give you information about all the trails in the area and where the best riding is. Our activities for February start with our Wednesday Rides on the 1st. Meet at the clubhouse at 8:00am for a great breakfast and then a full or half day ride depending on conditions. The club members are invited to our first SUPERBOWL PARTY on the 5th. We are meeting at Kelly’s Restaurant at 2:00PM and its BYOB and bring snack foods. Should be a great time!! Our Potluck/Membership meeting is on the 11th at 6:00PM.
SNOFEST TIME
We begin with our famous CHILI/CHOWDER COOKOFF on Friday the 17th from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the clubhouse. Local restaurants compete for the title of best chili or chowder in the Greenville region. For $5.00 it is the best buy in town for great food. On Saturday, the 18th, we will be offering a guided ride for women and children to explore our club trails and return to the clubhouse for a delicious DEEP FRIED TURKEY LUNCHEON starting at noontime. Meet at the clubhouse at 10:00AM for the guided ride. The public is invited to the luncheon and donations are appreciated.
On the 25th, we are having a COOKOUT LUNCHEON at noontime on Prong Pond. We will have some great food available and after a morning guided ride, return to the pond north of Greenville for some good eats and fun on the ice. The riding public is invited to this event. It should be a great family event. Hope to see you there.
